M42 steel (w2mo9cr4vco8) is a high cobalt toughness high-speed steel. It is mainly used in high toughness precision wear-resistant hardware cold stamping die, and also can be used for cutting tools and tool cooling. The steel has high hardness, up to 70hrc, good thermal hardness, high temperature hardness and easy grinding. The cutting tool made of this steel can be used to cut iron-based superalloy, cast superalloy, titanium alloy and ultra-high strength steel, but the toughness is slightly poor, so the lower limit of temperature should be adopted when quenching. Because of its good grindability, it can be used to manufacture various kinds of high precision and complex cutting tools.
W2mo9cr4vco8 steel, code name M42, is an American grade superhard cobalt high-speed tool steel. The mass fraction of vanadium in M42 steel is not high (1%), and the mass fraction of cobalt is high (8%). Cobalt can make carbides dissolve more in the matrix during quenching and heating, and use high matrix hardness to improve wear resistance. The hardness, thermal hardness, wear resistance and grindability of the steel are very good. The hardness of hrc-67can be improved by special heat treatment, especially hrc-7067. The steel can be made into various kinds of cutting tools. The effect is very good when cutting difficult materials. Because of its good grinding performance, it can be made into complex cutting tools. However, China is short of cobalt resources, and the price of cobalt high-speed steel is expensive, which is about 5-8 times of that of ordinary high-speed steel.
The hardness, thermal hardness and service performance of domestic cobalt high speed steel have been improved to a certain extent, approaching or reaching the level of imported steel. After quenching and tempering, the hardness is more than 67hrc and the uniformity is less than ± 0.5%. Product specification: φ 10 ~ 150 mm, hot rolled, forged round steel, rectangular steel, square steel, forging, etc. Organize production according to GB / T 9943-2008 standard or user requirements.
Superhard speed steel is developed on the basis of combining the advantages of high carbon and high vanadium high speed steel and high carbon and high cobalt high speed steel to meet the needs of machining difficult cutting materials, such as heat-resistant alloy. Generally, the hardness is more than or equal to 64hrc. The processing properties of the steel are better than those of M2Al steel, and the cold and hot working properties are better; the hardness of the steel after quenching and tempering is the same as that of M35 steel, which is (66 ± 1) HRC.
